Merry Christmas Everybody!

Does anyone here use a gps unit when prospecting and if you do...which one?

I'm in the market for a unit but not sure which I should get...

Thanks all!

I have used the Garmin Rhino series and the GPSMAP 64st gps units as well as the E-trex, and would recommend any of those. The gpsmap 64st can use the SD cards to load different maps, and so can the higher end of the Garmin Rhino series, so those have been my main gps units for the past several years.

I too have a Garmin Rhino. The original 110 we use to keep tabs on each other hunting. Radio doesn't punch a signal very strong, but the GPS works great. I had Garmin Earthmate on my phone for a while, but didn't renew it. I was always downloading too many maps and eating up the memory on my phone. I am currently volunteering to Alpha and beta test Washington States new Fish Washington App. A work in progress, but the maps and sat photos are good. I'm sure the Gold and Fish Rules could be added at some point in the future so prospectors will be able to look up mining rules by location. See if your home state is building something similar.
